Schmidt stayed hot for San Angelo, homering and driving in three for the Colts in their 5-1 win over Fort Worth. Schmidt also stole two bases in the game. DH Jorge Alvarez had a good night for the Colts, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run. In his first start of the season, Colts' closer Justin Craker proved up to the task, limiting the Cats to just two hits over six innings, yielding no runs. 1B Jordan Foster homered in the seventh for Fort Worth, providing the Cats' only run. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- EL PASO 8, JACKSON 4 @ Jackson, Miss. Time: 2:25 ATT: 837 W: Travis Teeter (4-3) L: Rusty Camp (6-10) S: None HR: EP - Ben Rosenthal (8), JAX - Josh Tranum (7), Josh Lindstrom (4) El Paso jumped ahead early and went on cruise control the rest of the way, sailing to an 8-4 victory. The Diablos got three in the first and two more in the second, which was enough for Travis Teeter to get his fourth victory of the season. SS Josh Fulton and C Ben Rosenthal were the only El Paso players with multiple-hit evenings, while CF Vince Faison led the way by going 3-for-4 for Jackson. Senators starter Rusty Camp had a rough day, giving up six earned runs and walking four in four innings of work. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SHREVEPORT 6, COASTAL BEND 3 @ Robstown, Texas. Time: 2:33 ATT: 1,271 W: Bert Snow (8-6) L: Elliott Shaw (3-8) S: Mal Winters (2) HR: SHR- Chad Gambill (19) CB - Kevin Henry 2 (10) DH Chad Gambill's two-run homer in the seventh not only gave him the league lead in dingers with 19, it also helped the Sports beat Coastal Bend 6-3. The Sports overcame two homers by Aviators' RF Kevin Henry, coming in the fourth and seventh innings. Bert Snow picked up the win, holding Coastal Bend to three runs on six hits over seven, striking out nine in the process. Mal Winters pitched two hitless innings for his second save. CF Coby Smith was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run for Shreveport. The Sports improved to 20-12 with the win, just two games back of Fort Worth in the standings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PENSACOLA 11, EDINBURG 0 @ Pensacola, Fla. Time: 2:45 ATT: 1,166 W: Santos Hernandez (8-5) L: Nick Webb (0-2) S: None HR: None Every Pelicans' batter registered a hit as Pensacola piled on a grand total of 17 in their 11-0 demolition of Edinburg. DH Larry Bethea was 3-for-5 for the Pels with two driven in. Recently-acquired CF Rafael Alvarez was 2-for-3 for Pensacola with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base. Santos Hernandez kept the Roadrunners in check, permitting just two hits over six innings, striking out seven. Robbie Hebert and Bubba Dobson combined for three scoreless innings of relief work. With the win, Pensacola moves a game over .500.
