Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Three goals in the second period allowed the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders to swing ahead of the Waterloo Black Hawks Saturday, on their way to a 4-3 decision at Young Arena.
The Hawks converted their first two power play chances, the only two they would have during the evening. Derek Arnold banged in a puck from the side of the net at 11:42 of the first. Craig Smith scored from the left circle at 2:44 of the second.
In a 4:42 span, the Rough Riders got on the board, tied the game, and took the lead, beginning 10:08 into the middle period. Nick Oddo, Mike Seidel, and Zach Lehrke were the responsible parties.
J.T. Brown tied the game during a scramble for the puck at 12:22 of the third. However, Kyle Flanagan scored the game-winner at 17:35, without enough time to re-tie the score.
The Hawks play three games next week, starting Tuesday in Lincoln, then visiting Chicago Friday. The week wraps up at Young Arena Saturday when the Lincoln Stars visit the Black Hawks.
