Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

For a second time on the weekend, a three-goal second period boosted the Waterloo Black Hawks past an opponent, as the Hawks downed the Green Bay Gamblers 5-1 Sunday.

Keegan Meuer scored the lone first period goal unassisted at 8:50. Almost exactly twenty minutes later, Ryan Cramer put in a powerplay goal, deflecting in a feed from James Marcou after a quick pass from Brett Barta.

The same line was responsible for two more goals later in the period, separated by just 28 second. Kyle Reeds and Cramer both snapped shots over Adam Avramenko's right shoulder.

Green Bay scored early in the third, but Isak Tranvik got the point back on an eventful shift. Tranvik won a faceoff, was his by a shot, then bounced back up and went to the net to poke in a rebound.

The win sets up a key series between the Black Hawks and Cedar Rapids Rough Riders this weekend. Cedar Rapids leads in the USHL Eastern Division by one point but the Riders have played one extra game. The teams meet in Cedar Rapids Friday before a Saturday showdown at Young Arena. The 7:05 game is Next Generation Wireless Puck Night; the first 500 fans will receive a souvenir game puck.
