EDMONTON, CA (August 16, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks (2W-2D-4L, 8pts.) lost to FC Edmonton (4W-3D-2L, 15pts.) by a score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Clarke Field in Edmonton, Canada.

The RailHawks set the tone from the beginning of the match with attacking offensive play. Despite the RailHawks brilliant start to the game, it was Edmonton who opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Just minutes after denying Edmonton midfielder Lance Laing's shot attempt, Akira Fitzgerald wasn't able to stop Tomi Ameobi's ball and Edmonton took a 1-0 lead.

The RailHawks battled back from the early goal and continued to pour on their attack. However, after solid offense earned the away side a corner kick, Edmonton took advantage of a counter attack and Laing converted a goal in the 27th minute. Edmonton added another goal in the 36th minute and the Railhawks deficit grew to three. Dzenan Catic barely missed a shot off a corner kick to end the half and the RailHawks went into the locker room down 3-0.

Goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald had a stellar start to the second half, refusing to allow Edmonton to extend their lead. The home side nearly scored twice but Fitzgerald made two brilliant saves and the score remained 3-0. Neal Hlavaty had a great chance for the RailHawks in the 67th minute but his free kick went right into Edmonton goalkeeper Matt VanOekel's hands.

Fitzgerald kept up his outstanding play and dominated the second half for the away side with a handful of outstanding saves. Midfielder Nazmi Albadawi also looked great in his return to the starting lineup. The NC State product sent a fantastic pass to Catic in the 73rd minute, yet Catic couldn't volley the ball home. Neither team ended up finding the back of the net in the second half and FC Edmonton defeated the RailHawks 3-0.

The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, August 22nd at 7:30 pm to host international star Raúl and the New York Cosmos.
