Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE - Seattle Reign FC has announced the re-signing of defender Rachel Corsie for the 2017 season. Corsie has been with the club since 2015. Per team and league policy, the terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Corsie, sidelined most of the 2016 season due to injury, made 12 appearances for Reign FC, starting in 11. She was part of a record-setting back four, setting National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) records for most consecutive clean sheets and most minutes without conceding.
The defender has since completed her rehab and is available for the upcoming Scotland national team camps and matches in January. She's expected to be available at the start of the 2017 Reign FC season.
"Rachel has worked extremely hard to get herself back to full fitness. Her commitment and attitude to the program has been excellent," said Director of High Performance and Head of Strength and Conditioning Nick Leman.
"She has a lot to look forward to with the upcoming Scotland national team camp in January, the Cyprus Cup in March, the start of the NWSL season in April, and then the Euros in July. It's an exciting time in her career."
Corsie also scored one goal during the 2016 season, finding the back of the net in Seattle's win 3-0 win over the Boston Breakers. The win was Reign FC's fifth consecutive road win, another NWSL record.
"I am absolutely delighted to be staying for another year," said Corsie. "I love both the club and the city of Seattle and I really feel I have found a second home here. I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue wearing the Reign jersey. I know the club has huge ambitions and I am proud and excited to be a part of the successes ahead. Let it Reign!"
