Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm today announced that Angel Robinson and Waltiea Rolle have re-signed with the franchise.

"Angel and Waltiea have both had strong overseas performances," said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. "To be competitive in this league, it's critical to have presence in the paint and length around the rim."

Signing with the Storm prior to the 2014 WNBA season, Robinson posted season averages of 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per game. Robinson returns to Seattle after playing for Perfumerias in Spain for three seasons (2012-15), and currently averages 12 points and 10 rebounds in LFB play and 13.6 points and 10 rebounds in EuroLeague competition.

A University of Georgia graduate, Robinson finished her career in Athens at No. 4 in blocked shots and No. 5 in rebounds. She became the program's 31st 1,000-point scorer during the team's win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 6, 2009 and ended her career at No. 25 among Georgia's career scoring leaders. The Marietta, Ga. native was named to the 2008-09 All-SEC Second Team by league coaches. She led the SEC in rebounding that same season.

Currently averaging 11 points and 8.5 rebounds in Czech Republic competing with Nymburk, Rolle returns for her second season with the Storm after signing a string of seven-day contracts late last season. She saw time in six games, averaging 2.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. The only game in which she saw substantial minutes (31), Aug. 15, 2014 at Los Angeles, Rolle posted her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Selected in the third round (36th overall), by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Rolle was the first Bahamian to be drafted in the WNBA. She then elected to forgo the entire 2013 WNBA season in favor of completing her degree in sports administration and exercise sports science at the University of North Carolina, and playing overseas.

A 2013 graduate of North Carolina, Rolle owns two of the top ten best shot-blocking seasons in school history. Her 89 blocks during the 2013 campaign stand for sixth all-time and her 82 blocks in the 2011 season are good for eighth all-time in North Carolina history.

Seattle opens the 2015 season on June 6 vs. Los Angeles. Storm 360 Memberships, starting at $179, are still available by calling (206) 217-WNBA (9622) or by visiting StormBasketball.com.
