Sea Wolves Acquire Pilkington, Menei From Texas

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Tuesday that they have acquired forwards Brett Pilkington and Ryan Menei from the Texas Wildcatters in exchange for future considerations.

Pilkington played four years of college hockey at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where he was a teammate of Sea Wolves forward Mike Falk and scored 28 goals and 62 assists 134 games. In 2006-07, his first professional season, the 6-0, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta scored 73 points (29g, 44a) in 73 games with Bloomington and Quad City of the now-defunct United Hockey League.

"Brett had an excellent collegiate career at Bowling Green, and a great rookie season in the United Hockey League," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "He's a guy that can make plays and pass the puck well."

A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Menei played three full seasons in the Western Hockey League with Saskatoon, appearing in 177 games while scoring 114 points (50g, 64a). In 2006-07, the 5-11, 203-pound Menei scored 77 points (35g, 42a) in 71 games with Saskatoon, before beginning his pro career with Muskegon of the now-defunct United Hockey League. In 10 regular season games with Muskegon, Menei scored three goals and two assists, and in nine playoff games, the 21-year old scored three assists.

"Ryan Menei is a player who showed his potential in his last full season with Saskatoon," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "He's got a great deal of offensive talent."
