The Saint John Sea Dogs (27-15-1-3) came out on top against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (24-14-2-2) in a tight 4-3 win at TD Station on Wednesday night. Goals from William Dufour, Cam MacDonald, Connor Trenholm, and Philippe Daoust led the way in the weeknight matchup in front of their home crowd.

Nikolas Hurtubise got the Start for the Sea Dogs, making 34 saves on 37 shots in the win. Jan Bednar started for the Titan, facing 43 shots and making 39 saves on the night.

The game began with an on-ice ceremony to award Olivier Picard with the 2022 Gervais-Munger Award for the Sea Dogs, recognizing his perseverance in education as he pursues a career in the business of construction. An interview with Picard on what the award means to him can be found here.

It was an even first period, with shots going back and forth until a few penalties to the Sea Dogs tilted the ice toward the Titan. Bennett MacArthur was able to score on a power play with less than three minutes remaining in the period and the Titan took a 1-0 lead into the second frame.

Shots after the first were 17-15 for Saint John.

Midway through the period, the Sea Dogs got on the board with a goal from William Dufour, his 41st of the season, flipping the puck over Bednar off his backhand.

Less than a minute later, the Sea Dogs took the lead when Cam MacDonald picked up a puck that hit a body in front of the net and ripped it to the back of the net, and the Sea Dogs went into the final period up 2-1.

Shots after the second were 29-24 for Saint John.

The Titan scored their second of the night and tied the game up at 4:34 with a goal from Miguël Tourigny.

Connor Trenholm gave the Sea Dogs the lead again only 23 seconds later, tipping a shot from Ryan Francis in front of the net to regain the lead.

The Titan tied the game up on a power play with 3:52 remaining, Jacob Melanson picking up a rebound and sliding it into the open side of the net.

Melanson was then sent to the box on a boarding call, sending the Sea Dogs to a late game power play. The Sea Dogs capitalized, and with a minute and a half remaining in the game, a shot from Ryan Francis was tipped by Philippe Daoust and the Sea Dogs took a 4-3 lead to win the game.

Final shots were 43-37
