Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN, January 26, 2007 - Canada's military men and women will be honored on Saturday, February 3, when the Sea Dogs host the PEI Rocket on Canadian Forces Appreciation Night.

Fans are being encouraged to wear blue-colored clothing as a show of support for the troops. The Sea Dogs are also offering a special $8 price on upper bowl game tickets.

A number of events are planned for the contest including the ceremonial dropping of the puck by CFB Gagetown commander Colonel Ryan Jestin and chief warrant officer J.S.R. St-Amour. Other activities include:

- A static military vehicle display, both outside and inside Harbour Station;

- Sale of "Support our Troops" yellow ribbon items. Proceeds will to the Military Family Resource Centre. The centre offers support services to military families, including counseling for children and teens, community integration and personal development;

- A pre-game presentation on the Sea Dogs video wall; and

- Information kiosks on the Harbour Station concourse.

Captain Mark Currie, public affairs officer for the Canadian Forces recruiting centre in Fredericton, is encouraging a big turnout for the game. "Public showings of support like this represent the greatest possible reward for any member of the Canadian Forces," he said. "Everyone is encouraged to come out and speak directly with the Canadian Forces members who will be at the game."

Upper bowl tickets (excluding Horseshoe) for the game will cost only $8, no matter the age. The discounted price is not available online.

The Sea Dogs are in Shawinigan tonight to face the Cataractes in a 9 o'clock (Atlantic) game. They return to Harbour Station ice on Feb. 2 to entertain the Moncton Wildcats, followed the next night by the PEI contest.
