
Sea Dogs Reassign Lafreniere, Smallwood

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have reassigned forward Alexandre Lafreniere and defenceman Ian Smallwood to the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL).
Lafreniere, 17, earned one assist in three games after being recalled last week. He has two assists in five games with the Sea Dogs this season. The native of Gatineau, Quebec, has five goals and 15 points in 18 games in his first season with Woodstock.
Smallwood, 17, recorded one shot on goal in two games with Saint John after his recall five days ago. The St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, product has one goal and six points in twenty games in his first season with Woodstock.
Forward Olivier Mathieu is also expected to return to the Magog Cantonniers of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League after tonight's game with Saint John against the Quebec Remparts.
The 16-year-old from Drummondville was recalled Tuesday and played in the Sea Dogs' 4-3 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Wednesday. Mathieu has eight goals and 16 points in 17 games in his second season with Magog.
The Sea Dogs host the Quebec Remparts tonight at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office, or fans can save money and buy online.
