Charles Taillon and Jeremy McKenna responded for Moncton (13-31-2-1).
A scoring summary is available HERE .
The Sea Dogs dominated the first period, outshooting the Wildcats 20-1, but it took a friendly bounce to open the scoring with five minutes left in the frame.
Alexandre Bernier carried the puck into the left corner and threw a pass to the front of the crease as Green drove toward the net. It deflected off Green's leg and past Moncton goalie Matthew Waite for the only goal of the period.
Ward made it a 2-0 game two minutes into the second.
Saint John kept play deep in the Moncton zone for more than a minute, and were able to execute a line change while in the offensive zone. That allowed a fresh Joe Veleno to hit a streaking Ward with a hard pass from the left corner for a tap-in inside the left post.
Imama became the first Sea Dog to hit the 30-goal mark this season with a power play strike eight minutes later.
The overager from Montreal took a pass on the left side of the high slot and rifled a heavy wrister past the glove of Waite.
But the Wildcats came back with their own power play goal just over a minute after that when Taillon put the rebound of a McKenna shot through the legs of Callum Booth in the Sea Dog goal.
Moncton cut its deficit to 3-2 with nine minutes remaining in the second period.
While enjoying another man advantage, McKenna moved from the left circle into the slot and ripped a wrist shot over Booth's blocker.
Highmore swung momentum back in Saint John's favour 22 seconds later.
Julien Gauthier brought the puck in on the right wing and sent a hard pass across the crease to Highmore, who snapped it past Waite's blocker.
The Sea Dogs carried a 4-2 lead into the late stages of the third period before wrapping up the scoring with more than six minutes left.
With Saint John on the power play, Nathan Noel sent a wrist shot on goal that Waite kicked out with his right leg. From the left side of the slot, Imama slid the rebound through the goalie's legs and inside the right post for his second goal of the night.
Booth earned the win with 18 saves. Waite made 47 stops in a losing cause.
Imama's two goals on nine shots made him first star while McKenna snared second star with a goal and an assist. Gauthier's assist prompted a third-star selection in front of 3,605 fans in attendance.
