Sea Dogs Explode for 10 Goals in Win over Olympiques

The Saint John Sea Dogs (22-23-1-0) exploded for 10 goals against the Gatineau Olympiques (16-25-3-0) on Wednesday night. Gatineau responded with six of their own but couldn't keep pace with the Sea Dogs. Saint John scored all 10 goals while even strength.

Noah Patenaude made his first start of 2020 and finished with 27 saves for the win. Former Sea Dog Tommy DaSilva started in net for the Olympiques. Tommy was traded to Gatineau during this past trade period.

Saint John got on the board early with two quick goals in the first period. Jérémie Poirier scored his 13th of the season with a wrister from the left side at 4:20. Julian Vander Voet then knocked in a rebound after Alex Drover came streaking down the left side and drove hard to the net at 11:52.

Gatineau would respond with two of their own late in the period. Manix Landry scored at 15:19 followed by Metis Roelens at 17:55. The teams headed to the dressing room tied up at 2-2, with 12 shots a piece.

Gatineau scored just over a minute into the second on a power play for their only lead of the game.

Just 25 seconds later Joshua Roy scored after deking Da Silva and slipping it five hole for his 9th of the season.

Josh Lawrence took the lead back for the Sea Dogs 39 seconds later with a high wrister over the glove of Da Silva. Lawrence has seven goals in his last eight games.

Gatineau struck again on a goal from Emile Hegarty-Aubin at 5:43 and the game was all tied up, 4-4.

Brady Burns made the extra effort to keep the puck in at the line and found William Villeneuve streaking down the right side. Villeneuve took the past a fired a laser for his 8th of the year and a 5-4 lead. Saint John then began to pull away.

Poirier added his second of the game with under two minutes to go in the period to give the Se Dogs a 6-4 lead as they headed for the intermission.

Tommy Da Silva was pulled after the second, Remi Poirier started the third for Gatineau.

The Sea Dogs picked up where they left off with four additional goals coming from Josh Lawrence, Kale McCallum with his third of the year, followed by Maxim Cajkovic and finally Nicholas Deakin-Poot with the double digit marker at 17:03.

Gatineau added one more late for a final score of 10-6.

16 different Sea Dogs found the score sheet while Matt Gould and Josh Lawrence both finished +4.

Saint John will play again on Friday night, against the Charlottetown Islanders. The last meeting between the two teams saw the Sea Dogs win 4-3 at TD Station. Tickets are available at the box office and online.
