Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that the team has acquired 18-year-old defenseman Spencer MacDonald from the Montreal Juniors in exchange for an eighth round pick at the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.

A native of Charlottetown, PEI, MacDonald has spent the past two seasons playing with the Summerside Western Capitals of the MJAHL (now known as the MHL). In 76 career junior 'A' games, the 5'11", 180 lb. blue-liner has tallied 4G-21A-25P-122PIM. MacDonald also appeared in two QMJHL contests with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in 2008-09, recording 0G-1A-1P-0PIM. Originally selected by the Screaming Eagles in the fifth round (85th overall) of the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft, MacDonald was traded from Cape Breton to Montreal on June 5, 2009 as part of a deal which involved superstar centre Luke Adam.

MacDonald will be a part of the Sea Dogs' 2010 Training Camp, which begins in two weeks' time at Harbour Station. A full camp roster will be announced in the near future.

Season tickets to Saint John's upcoming 2010-11 campaign are now available for purchase. Sea Dogs season ticket holders enjoy several benefits such as a discount on team merchandise, priority access to playoff seats, and an invitation to exclusive events such as a season-opening barbeque with coaches and players. More info on full season, flex, and flex combo ticketing packages can be obtained by calling the team office at (506) 657-DOGS (3647) or by visiting www.saintjohnseadogs.com.
