Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release

Niles, Ohio - On Friday, August 12, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will host a Breast Cancer Awareness night presented by Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley. Those that have and are currently fighting with breast cancer will be honored in multiple ways throughout the game.

"Breast Cancer is all too common among Valley Women and we at Mercy Health are truly proud to partner with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to help combat these cancer rates. The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center has begun to move the needle in terms of late diagnosis, much in part because of the Joanie's Promise fund, where all women, regardless of their ability to afford a screening are provided the care they need. This is truly our community coming together, raising dollars and truly saving lives." said Jonathon Fauvie, CNP and Gift Officer for the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley.

The Scrappers will wear specialty breast cancer awareness jerseys that will be auctioned off the night of the game and online with auction proceeds benefiting the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. The jerseys will honor local names of those affected by this disease. For $50 you can submit a loved one's name to be featured on the jersey, receive two Box seat tickets to the August 12 game and two specialty Scrappers breast cancer awareness t-shirts. A $20 donation of this Breast Cancer Awareness Night package will be made to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. You may purchase additional Box seat tickets for $10 per ticket, with $5 going back to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. Additional specialty t-shirts may be purchased for $10 per shirt. Packages are available at the Mr. Rooter Box Office at Eastwood Field, by calling 330-505-0000 or by visiting mvscrappers.com.

Prior to the game the Scrappers invite all survivors on to the field to be recognized. Fans are encouraged to "Think Pink" and wear pink for the game. The night will also feature a jersey lunch tote giveaway courtesy of Mercy Health to the first 1,000 fans and will end with a post-game fireworks show.

The Scrappers open the 2016 season at Eastwood Field on June 17 vs. the West Virginia Black Bears. Single game tickets are on sale and can be purchased online at mvscrappers.com, at the Mr. Rooter Box Office at Eastwood Field or by calling 330-505-0000.
