(Niles, OH) - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers perfect home record came to an end on Sunday afternoon at Eastwood Field. The Williamsport Crosscutters scored five runs over the third and fourth innings to pull away for an 8-1 win. The Scrappers managed just four hits,
The Crosscutters got on the board in the top of the third inning on a three run double from Ben Pelletier for a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Williamsport added two more runs on a two run homerun from Edwin Rodriguez to push the lead out to 5-0.
Mahoning Valley would get their lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Simeon Lucas started the inning by reaching base on a dropped third strike. He would come around to score on an RBI fielder's choice from Gabriel Mejia.
Williamsport added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach.
In the loss Tyler Freeman extended his hitting streak to six games while Elvis Perez extended his to seven straight.
Adoni Kery (0-1) started and took the loss. He went 3.1 innings while allowing 5 earned runs on 7 hits. Kery walked 3 and struck out 2. Luis Valdez followed with 2.2 innings of relief. Valdez allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out 1. Randy Valladares went 3.0 perfect innings of relief with 4 strikeouts.
