Scorpions Sting Sox In Yuma

August 8, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The first game of Reno?s second trip to Yuma this season was not one that the Silver Sox will be proud of losing 12-3.

There were however a few bright spots for Les Lancaster?s ball club in the defeat.

The first came when 3B Chuck Sidlinger knocked in his ninth and tenth runs of the season with an single in the fourth inning which tied the game at two.

The next came when LF Kane Simmons hit his league-leading 15th home run of the season over the right field fence which gave the Sox the lead 3-2.

Unfortunately for the Silver Sox, that would be all the scoring they would do in the game.

Yuma scored three runs in the fifth off of Reno starter Matt Parris, who fell to 5-8 on the year with the loss. The Scorpions added one more in the sixth, when Parris left the game.

Jason Martinez came in to pitch in the 7th, and Yuma scored five runs in his two innings on the mound and went on to an easy victory.

The Sox play a double header at Desert Sun Stadium on Wednesday. The two seven inning games will be played back to back starting at 5 PM. The Reno Silver Sox pregame show begins at 4:45 on ESPN Radio 630 and here at silversoxbaseball.com.
