THE SERIES: This will be the fourth meeting of the season between the Amarillo Gorillas and the New Mexico Scorpions and the first of back to back Friday visits. The Gorillas doubled the Scorpions 4-2 in Bill McDonald's coaching debut in New Mexico on December 19.
CHL STATS PACK: What a merry month of December it was for the Amarillo Gorillas as they went 9-2-0. Gorillas defenseman Brandon Carper has been red hot in December with 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists), while Ben Maidment, Dorian Anneck and Derek Hahn have been the most productive goal scorers with five goals each.
The excellent goaltending tandem of Shawn Degagne and Steve DeBus continue to shine. Degagne is 5-0 in December with a 2.74 GAA, while DeBus is 4-2 with a 2.61 GAA.
Forward Chris Richards and defenseman Arthurs Kupaks have been the most productive New Mexico Scorpion in December with 12 points respectively.
CHL ALL-STAR STARTERS: The Central Hockey League has announced its starters for the 2003 Dodge CHL All-Star game in Oklahoma City at the fabulous Ford Center on January 23. The Northern Conference starting six are: Todd Marcellus (TUL), Travis Clayton (WIC), Don Parsons (MEM), Derek Landmesser (MEM), Hardy Sauter (OKC) and goaltender Rod Branch (TUL). The Southern Conference starters are Blaz Emersic (LUB), Chris Richards (NMX), Eric Schneider (LAR), Michel Periard (LAR), Scott Hillman (ODE) and the goaltender is Matt Barnes (AUS). UPCOMING SCHEDULE: It is a busy next 10 days for the Amarillo Gorillas with seven games on the schedule, including six at home beginning with tonight's game. The Gorillas will then host the CHL leading Tulsa Oilers tomorrow night at 7 p.m. before heading off to El Paso to face the Buzzards on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. CST, 3 p.m. MST. Fans are encouraged to come out Tuesday to see the Gorillas and the Oklahoma City Blazers lock up in a Northern Conference showdown at 7 p.m. The remaining part of the schedule includes home game with the New Mexico Scorpions, San Angelo Saints and Corpus Christi Rayz.
