New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-New Mexico Scorpions head coach Randy Murphy has shuffled his roster for the upcoming weekend's game. Forward Tim Vitek has been signed to the roster, arriving from the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL.

Chris Robertson will also return to the lineup after spending the last two weeks on the injured reserve. Replacing Robertson on the injured reserve is defenseman Aaron MacInnis who will sit for the next two weeks with an upper body injury sustained against Odessa this past week.

Vitek, 24, will not officially be added to the roster until Friday when Blair Stayzer's three game suspension has ended. Stayzer will then be placed on the 14-day injured reserve with an injury he sustained just prior to his suspension.

Murphy will be very familiar with Vitek when he arrives in New Mexico. The two were teammates in Corpus Christi during the 2005-06 season.

"Tim will add more depth for us up front and on the penalty kill," said Murphy. "He is a very good skater, a great teammate and works hard on the ice."

After leaving Corpus Christi, Vitek has spent time with the Ice Bears and the Florida Seals. In 16 games this season, the Dresden , Ont. native has scored 33 points, ranking second in SPHL scoring. His 15 goals currently lead the SPHL. Overall, the 5'10", 175-pounder has played in 118 professional games scoring 80 points (35G, 45A) and collecting 81 penalty minutes.

The next Scorpions game is on Thursday, December 13th when the Scorpions host the Amarillo Gorillas. The puck will drop inside the Santa Ana Star Center at 7:15 p.m. Fans can also get ready for the annual "Salute to the Military Night" on Saturday, December 15th when the Scorps host Rio Grande Valley.
