Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Kokomo, IN - Joe Horoszko led the way in a low scoring game as the Traverse City Pit Spitters took down the Kokomo Jackrabbits 4-1 on Monday night.

Horoszko (2-0, 4.26) went six scoreless innings to earn the victory. He struck out three batters and allowed just three hits. The defense picked up their starter as they turned three inning-ending double plays. Horoskzo got in the action himself with an unassisted double play to end the fifth.

The offense picked up in the fourth after the first 10 batters were retired. The Pit Spitters loaded the bases with one out. Sam Tackett knocked in a run on a groundout, beating out the double play.

Two more runs came across in the sixth. Colin Summerhill doubled home a run for his 27th RBI of the season, one shy of the team lead. Tackett came through again with an RBI bunt single and made it 3-0.

Kokomo took advantage with Horoszko out of the game by doubling twice in the seventh to get on the board. But the Pit Spitters got it back in the eighth on a Dallas Duarte sacrifice fly.

Mitch White stranded the bases loaded in the bottom half and Anthony Ramirez tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save and preserve the win.
