Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - Eventually the Jupiter Hammerheads are going to find a way to score a run and end their long scoring drought. That moment did not come on Saturday as the Sharks could not push a run across for the fourth straight game as they lost to Bradenton 7-0. It was the team's eighth straight defeat.

Jupiter has not scored in 38 innings dating back to seventh inning on Monday against Palm Beach. In comparison, the Miami Marlins went 37 innings without scoring a run last season, the longest such streak in the big leagues since the Houston Astros did not score for 42 straight innings in 1985.

For the second consecutive night the Hammerheads managed just five hits against Bradenton. Two men reached scoring position, in the seventh when Matt Juengel hit a one-out single and stole second and in the eighth when Jesus Solorzano got to second on an error. Each time the Sharks failed to come through with a hit to break the streak.

For the third straight game the Hammerheads received a solid pitching performance but the effort was not enough. This time it was Trevor Williams who was handed the loss after he allowed three runs on 10 hits in six innings.

Raul Fortunato started the scoring for the Marauders in the fifth inning when he took Williams' first pitch of the frame deep to left for a solo home run.

Bradenton would make it 3-0 in sixth when Eric Wood hit a two-out single, Taylor Lewis tripled to left-center and Jin-De Jhang pulled a double down the first base line.

The Marauders would get another run in the seventh off Casey McCarthy when Adam Frazier scored on a ground out by Josh Bell.

Charlie Lowell's struggles would continue in the ninth when Bradenton scored three times off him to make it a 7-0 game.

After the sweep the Hammerheads will be happy to see a new team come to town as the Sharks will start a three-game set with the St. Lucie Mets beginning on Sunday. Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
