Schermerhorn, Rembisz Grab Weekly Honors

DURHAM, NC -- The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Sioux City Explorers INF Derek Schermerhorn and Pensacola Pelicans RHP Bryan Rembisz have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

Schermerhorn batted .600 in six games this past week. In 20 at-bats, he collected 12 hits, four of which were doubles, scored five runs and had a .800 slugging percentage. The Henderson, NV resident also stole four bases to go along with a .654 on-base percentage. On the season, Schemerhorn is hitting .326 with 24 runs scored, 59 hits and 20 RBIs.

Rembisz collected wins against Shreveport-Bossier and El Paso. He gave up only one earned run on nine hits in 13 innings pitched. He fanned 12 batters and sported an earned run average of 0.69. The Clinton, CT resident is 3-2 on the year with a 3.68 ERA.
