Sioux City 13, St. Paul 6
Sioux City pounded out 22 hits, 11 of which were doubles, en route to an easy 13-6 win over St. Paul on the road. 1B Kent Sakamoto led the way offensively, going 4-for-6 with three doubles, a run scored and four RBI. Every hitter in the Explorers' starting lineup recorded at least one hit and seven recorded multi-hit games. Sioux City starting pitcher Mikael Ryder was the beneficiary of the run support. He allowed three runs on nine hits while striking out a pair in seven innings to earn the win.
Shreveport-Bossier 9, Fort Worth 2 (Game 1 - 7 innings)
Leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the third inning, Shreveport-Bossier rallied for five runs in the frame to go up 7-1 and rolled from there to a 9-2 win in game one of a doubleheader. Captains SS Bryan Frichter led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double, a pair of runs scored and a RBI. Shreveport-Bossier starting pitcher Kedrick Martin allowed two runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work to earn the win.
Shreveport-Bossier 5, Fort Worth 4 (Game 2 - 8 innings)
Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Shreveport-Bossier rallied for two runs to tie the game and went on to win it in extra innings, giving the Captains a sweep of their doubleheader with Fort Worth. Shreveport-Bossier 2B Jorge Alvarez led the way offensively, going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. SS Bryan Frichter had another good game, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Wichita 8, Grand Prairie 5
Wichita got the scoring started with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning and never trailed, en route to an 8-5 win over Grand Prairie. Wingnuts RF Jorge Cortes led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a pair of RBI. SS Josh Horn also had a good game, going 2-for-3 with a RBI. Wichita starting pitcher Luke Massetti allowed four unearned runs on four hits while striking out six in 6.1 innings to earn the win, running his record to 4-4 on the season.
Lincoln 11, Sioux Falls 9
It looked like Sioux Falls would roll to an easy win after scoring six runs in the top of the first inning to take a 6-0 lead, but Lincoln outscored the Pheasants 11-3 from there to come away with the win. Saltdogs CF Reggie Abercrombie continued his tear offensively, going 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. The homer was Abercrombie's 17th of the season, second most in the American Association this season. His 62 RBI are tops in the league.
Pensacola 2, El Paso 1
Pensacola starting pitcher Bryan Rembisz scattered four hits and struck out eight in seven scoreless innings to lead the Pelicans to a 2-1 win over El Paso. With the victory, Rembisz ran his mark to 3-2 on the season. Pensacola reliever Austin Chambliss recorded the game's final out to earn his second save. Pelicans RF Chase Porch was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI to lead the way at the plate. Diablos 1B Kyle Nichols was 2-for-3 with a solo home run to lead El Paso in the losing effort.
