Schempp Reassigned from Missouri

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.- The New York Islanders announced today forwa rd Kyle Schempp has b een reassigned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, from the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL).

Schempp, 23, played five games with the Sound Tigers earlier this season, recording an assist and two penalty minutes. He also notched 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) and 30 penalty minutes in 43 games with the Mavericks, including his first professional goal on Nov. 5 against the Tulsa Oilers.

Prior to turning pro, the rookie forward notched 66 points (29 goals, 37 assists) and 62 penalty minutes in 121 games with Ferris State University. Schempp was named captain of the Bulldogs during his final season. The Saginaw, MI native also spent one season with the Traverse City North Stars (North American Hockey League) and Sioux Falls Stampede (United States Hockey League) before his three-year career at Ferris State.

Schempp, a 6'0, 178-pound forward, was originally selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (155th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
