Schaafsma Earns League Honor

FLINT, MI - The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Flint Generals forward Jamie Schaafsma has been named the IHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday March 21st, 2010.

Schaafsma wrapped up the week posting seven points in three games played. He scored one goal and added six assists to his totals, extending his point streak to four games. He has posted points in nine of his last 10 games, including four multi-point contests. Schaafsma scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 6-1 win in Bloomington, helping propel the Generals to within five points of the Prairie Thunder for the final playoff spot. The 27-year-old Chatham, Ontario native is currently second on the Generals roster in scoring with 54 points (24 goals, 30 assists). His 54 points also rank him 14th among IHL scoring leaders.

The Generals return to action this Sunday March 28th at 4pm, when they host the two time Turner Cup Champion Fort Wayne Komets. This Sunday is also 'Country & Western' night, featuring music and activities with a Country and Western theme.
