Savannah Sand Gnats and Southern Eagle Announce Military Appreciation Night and US Army Birthday Bas

Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats, the Class-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and Southern Eagle Distributing will put on a Military Appreciation Night and United States Army Birthday Celebration on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Military Appreciation Night / US Army Birthday Bash is presented by the Savannah Sand Gnats and Southern Eagle Distributing. The Savannah Sand Gnats entire team and coaching staff will be wearing specialty Camouflage jerseys during the Thursday night game against the Augusta GreenJackets. These jerseys will be auctioned off during the game in a silent auction. 100% of the proceeds will go to the wounded, ill and injured soldiers and veterans throughout the Coastal Empire.
"Southern Eagle Distributing understands the sacrifice and commitment our military and their families make to serve and protect our nation. The Savannah Sand Gnats are one of the all-time great minor league baseball teams. In fact, Historic Grayson Stadium was in the midst of being rebuilt when World War II began. The bricklayers left their jobs here in order to go serve our country. Through our partnership with the Sand Gnats and our dedication to the military families in our community, we hope to make this a homerun event for everyone involved. A full 100% of the proceeds of the jersey auction will benefit the Wounded Warriors project in Coastal Georgia," said Southern Eagle Distributing President, Will Dorminy.
The Savannah Sand Gnats will also offer a FREE General Admission ticket to any active duty military personnel (regardless of branch) for the Sand Gnats game.
"When you live in a city that has such a large military presence as we do, it is extremely important to honor the sacrifices that our servicemen and women, and the military families, make each and every day," said Sand Gnats President, John Katz. "We are honored to be hosting this event and encourage people to come out and bid often in order to help us raise as much money as possible. I know I'm buying one or two myself."
All winning bidders of the jersey auction will have the opportunity to meet their player and receive an autograph as well as their jersey immediately following the game. The auction will take place on the top level of LandShark Landing next to the bar. The auction will close in the end of the seventh inning and all winners must pay on site. Winners must be present in order to receive their jersey and meet their player.
Gates will open at 6pm on Thursday with game time beginning at 7:05pm. It will be another Thirsty Thursday presented by Budweiser with half-price on all beers and sodas.
