Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Bridgeport, Conn.) - Tonight's (Saturday, August 6) game versus the Blue Crabs has been suspended due to inclement weather. Saturday's (8/6) game will be finished tomorrow, Sunday, August 7 beginning at 2:05 p.m.. The originally scheduled game will begin one half hour after the first concludes.
The Bridgeport Bluefish and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs played into the fifth inning on Saturday before the game was suspended due to rain. The contest was tied at five with the bases loaded and two Bluefish batters out when the game was called.
The Bluefish scored three runs in the first inning before the Blue Crabs pushed across five unanswered. In the fourth, with a runner on, Jeremy Owens smacked a two-run shot to leftcenter to cut the deficit to one.
Southern Maryland took the lead in the fifth by scoring three more. Brandon Pinckney led off with a single. With one out, Travis Garcia served a two-run shot to leftcenter to give the Blue Crabs the lead. The road team added one more courtesy of a walk and three wild pitches.
Bridgeport, though, came through in the fifth to avoid a loss by scoring twice before the rains came. Luis Rodriguez had the big hit in the inning.
