Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of infielder Felix Molina. Molina makes his Atlantic League debut for the Bluefish during his 11th season of professional baseball and second in the independent ranks.

"Felix will add depth to our infield," says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. "We look forward to his contributions during the second half of the season."

Molina is coming off a great season with Edinburg of the United League in 2010. The infielder finished with a .331 batting average, 67 runs, 45 RBI, 15 stolen bases, 20 doubles, seven home runs, and four triples in 82 games. The switch-hitter played for Corpus Christi of the Texas League (Double-A, Astros) in 2009. Prior to that, he spent his entire career in the Twins organization. After starting in the Minnesota system in 2001, Felix reached Double-A New Britain in 2005, and made Connecticut his home for the majority of four seasons. In 2008, the 28-year-old was called up for a brief stint with Triple-A Rochester. Molina is a career .270 hitter with 409 runs, 353 RBI, 165 doubles, 29 triples, 43 home runs, and 66 stolen bases in 859 minor league games. He was originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round of the 2001 amateur draft.

To make room on the roster, the Bluefish have placed pitcher Ray Silva on the Inactive List.
