Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to announce Cindy Fuchs as the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders created the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation to enhance and further its community efforts across the province. The Foundation's mission is to empower youth and communities through the passion of Rider Nation and will fund amateur sport, education, health and wellness initiatives.
"We are thrilled to bring Cindy Fuchs on board as the first executive director of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation," said Roughrider President and CEO Craig Reynolds. "Cindy is passionate about charitable work and brings decades of experience in fundraising, campaign creation and non-profit management. We believe she is the perfect person to set the course for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation and her hard work and leadership will allow us to hit the ground running."
Fuchs comes to the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation after 35 years at the Red Cross, the last 12 of which she served as Vice President of Saskatchewan. A gifted and knowledgeable organizer and fundraiser Fuchs has been pivotal to the organization's success creating and cultivating several partnerships in Saskatchewan and across western Canada. Fuchs strengthened the Saskatchewan Red Cross's capacity to respond to emergencies, expanded its anti-bullying and healthy relationship education and assisted hundreds of thousands of individuals affected by disaster in our province. In 2015 she won the University of Regina President's Community Award for the Red Cross's response to the northern wildfires.
Before joining the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, Fuchs worked closely with the Roughriders on the Imagine No Bullying campaign which brings Roughrider players into Saskatchewan classrooms to spread an anti-bullying message and teach children about healthy relationships.
"I am so excited to join the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation and chart the course for the very important work it will do in the province for years to come," Fuchs said. "I know firsthand the tremendous impact that the Saskatchewan Roughriders have in the community, especially with children, and I am looking forward to expanding its reach even further as we grow the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation."
Fuchs will work alongside the Foundation Board comprising of Saskatchewan Roughrider President and CEO Craig Reynolds, Saskatchewan Roughrider Chief Financial Officer Kent Paul, Phoenix Group President Pam Klein, President and CEO of Canterra Capital Laurie Powers and Saskatchewan Roughrider alumnus and CG Wealth Management Financial Advisor Chris Getzlaf.
In the coming weeks and months Fuchs will lay the groundwork for the newly created Foundation by setting its short-term and long-term goals, creating and fostering relationships within the province as well as supporting and promoting tickets sales for the Foundation's flagship fundraiser: the Touchdown for Kids Millionaire Lottery.
Tickets for the lottery are already on sale and are available for purchase online at touchdownforkidsmillionairelottery.com.
