
Saskatchewan Drops to 5-8 with Loss to Calgary

Saskatoon, SK -- The Calgary Roughnecks jumped out to a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 14-6 win over the Saskatchewan Rush on Co-op Field in SaskTel Centre.
Jesse King opened the scoring 4:50 in followed by goals from Tanner Cook and Dan Taylor, which chased Rush netminder Alex Buque from the game.
In the second quarter, Mike Messenger and Ryan Keenan brought the game back to 4-2, but Calgary would lead 6-3 at the half despite another goal from Mark Matthews.
Cook, who finished with six goals in the win, turned his offensive game up a notch in the third quarter pushing the road squad to an 11-4 lead with 15 minutes to play.
In the fourth quarter, Calgary extended their lead to 14-4, but Robert Church and Dan Lintner would add tallies before the clock expired to make the final score 14-6 for the Roughnecks.
Christian Del Bianco made 44 saves for the win, while Eric Penney stopped 28 in the loss.
Next up, the 5-8 Saskatchewan Rush will host the 3-10 Vancouver Warriors for the second time this season on April 1st at SaskTel Centre.
