Harlingen, Texas - Francisco Santana collected three hits as the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (18-11) took home a 5-2 victory over the McAllen Thunder (9-21) at Harlingen Field on Saturday night.
He singled in the first, fifth, and sixth innings.
Luis Chirinos picked up the win for the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. Chirinos (4-2) allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks while striking out three over seven innings of work.
Demetrius Banks (2-1) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
Catcher Gio Rosa went 2-for-4 to lead the Thunder offense and Miguel Alfonzo drove in a run and collected a hit in three plate appearances for his Thunder debut.
The McAllen Thunder will play the third of their four game series on the road versus the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at Harlingen Field with the first pitch scheduled at 6:05 p.m.
