Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release
SAN ANGELO, TX - After one start with the Abilene Prairie Dogs, rookie right-hander Shawn Kale has been assigned to the PECOS League. In addition, third baseman Alex Guthrie has been traded to the Gateway Grizzles of the Frontier League in return for infielder Case Rigby.
On Thursday evening, Kale did not factor in the decision in the first start of his professional career. The 6'4" righty lasted 32/3 and allowed five runs on four hits, he walked four and struck out five.
Guthrie, who homered in his professional game on June 14, was 3-for-25 with a pair of R.B.I. in an Abilene uniform.
Rigby, who will not be with the club on Saturday, is in his second season as a professional. Last year, between the PECOS and Frontier leagues, the righty hit .355 with 11 homers (all coming in the PECOS league) and 73 R.B.I. In 73 at-bats with the Gateway Grizzles of the Frontier league this season, Rigby was batting .151 with one home run and four R.B.I.
