SEASIDE, Calif. - Monterey Bay wingback Walmer Martínez has once again been selected to join the El Salvador National Team for its two upcoming matches, both against Curaçao. It is a second selection in as many months for the Santa Cruz native and CSUMB alum.
Martínez earned 22 starts in 32 appearances across all competitions in his second campaign with the Union. The 25-year old made the move to wingback on the left side of Head Coach Frank Yallop's preferred formation this past season and has now been selected to represent El Salvador as a defender in back-to-back international breaks. In 1,955 minutes in all competitions last season, Martínez recorded 44 tackles, 37 clearances, 31 interceptions, and two assists among 25 chances created.
