
Sandusky Transferred from Harrisburg

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that catcher Scott Sandusky has been transferred to the club from Double-A Harrisburg. In order to make room for Sandusky on the roster the Trappers released infielder Dionys Cesar. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 23 players, 11 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and four outfielders, plus one player (right-handed pitcher Troy Mattes) on the disabled list.
Sandusky, 27, hit .241 (20-for-83) with one home run and 11 RBI in 26 games with Harrisburg this season. He scored seven runs, had five doubles, one triple, drew eight walks and stole two bases. The native of Denver, Colorado began the season by hitting safely in each of his first six games (7-for-23; .304). Sandusky collected eight RBI in that span. He also put together a five-game hitting streak (7-for-15; .467), April 29-May 6. Sandusky spent the entire 2002 season with Harrisburg and batted .206 (73-for-354) with two home runs and 35 RBI in 107 games with the Senators. He has played for the Senators in all or part of each of the last four seasons. The Montreal Expos selected Sandusky in the eighth round of the 1998 draft out of Texas A & M University. He began the season as a career .235 batter (365-for-1551) with eight home runs and 135 RBI in 472 minor league games.
Cesar, 26, batted .304 (17-for-56) with 11 RBI in 21 games for the Trappers this season. He tied a club record on April 27 at Fresno when he had three doubles versus the Grizzlies. Cesar was quite successful off the bench for Edmonton, getting a hit in each of his last four pinch-hit appearances. The 10-year minor league veteran was signed as a free agent by the Expos on January 17, 2003. He spent all of the 2002 season with Triple-A Indianapolis, where he batted .257 (123-for-479) with six home runs, 38 RBI and eight stolen bases in 133 games.
The next Trapper home game will be on Monday, May 12 when the club will take on the Portland Beavers. The game will begin at 7:05 PM.
