Sanders named Top 20 player in nation

March 7, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cape Cod Frenzy News Release

Orleans, MA: Rob Sanders, the high flying All Star forward from the Cape Cod Frenzy, has been named the 12th best minor league basketball player in the county according to ProBasketballNews.com. PBN, which scouts players from all the American leagues outside of the NBA, publishes the list on its website at www.probasketballnews.com/ml_rankings.html. Players from the NBDL, the ABA, and the CBA were represented.

Sanders, a 6'7 242lb small forward with a power game, was selected as a starter for the 2007 ABA All Star Game in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the game, and was runner up to Texas Tycoons' Donnie Beecham in the Slam Dunk Contest. During the ABA regular season, he is currently averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block per game for the Frenzy. Since January he has had some monster games including a 40 point, 15 rebound, 5 block performance against Newark on 1/20. On 2/1, Sanders scored 36 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against the Vermont Frost Heaves - a game in which he was nominated 'Player of the Game' by the Vermont radio broadcasters. That was the first time they had ever given the award to a visiting team's player in a loss. Against the Maryland Nighthawks on 2/18, he scored 35 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists as the Frenzy put 168 points on the board -Sanders put on a show catching several alleyoop slams over 7'9 Sun Ming Ming who could do nothing but watch.

"Rob is looking to continue playing basketball following the completion of the ABA season in a few weeks. He has been inundated by job offers from overseas teams but his focus was to complete the ABA season before evaluating his options," explained Frenzy General Manager Ian McCarthy, "his ultimate goal, of course, is to make the NBA. And he is hoping a franchise will give him an opportunity to play on their summer league team.
