Sanchez Sizzles, Strikes out 10 in 8-1 Win

Sixto Sanchez racked up a career-high 10 strikeouts on Friday night, and Henri Lartigue's three hits led the way as Clearwater raced past the Palm Beach Cardinals, 8-1 to even up the series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
Sanchez struck out five of the first six batters he faced, and did not permit a hit until the fourth inning. The 19-year-old right-hander yielded just a run on three hits in his six innings, and did not issue a walk.
Over his last three starts, Sanchez (3-3) has held opponents to just three runs (two earned) on 13 hits and two walks across 18.2 innings, while striking out 24 batters.
Clearwater (19-27) gave him a lead to work with right off the bat, putting up a pair in the first inning against Jake Walsh (0-1) in his FSL debut.
Arquimedes Gamboa led off with a single to center, and Adam Hasley was hit by a pitch. With one down, Darick Hall was also hit to load the bases, and Mickey Moniak delivered a double to right to bring home Gamboa and Haseley and put the Threshers ahead 2-0.
Moniak opened the fourth inning with his second hit of the night, a single to right, and Edgar Cabral knocked him in with a double to left to extend the advantage to 3-0.
The lone run for Palm Beach (26-19) came in the fifth, when Johan Mieses homered to center for his seventh of the season.
Clearwater added on a run each in the seventh and eighth innings, thanks to a Lartigue RBI triple and a Jose Gomez run-scoring single. The Threshers opened it up in the ninth, when Hall doubled home two runs and scored on Cabral's single to left, making it 8-1 Threshers.
Aaron Brown tossed two scoreless innings in relief, striking out two, and Alberto Tirado worked around a double and a walk to hold the Cardinals off the board in the ninth.
The Threshers and Cardinals meet for game three of the four-game set on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., as Bailey Falter toes the rubber against Austin Warner.
