San Diego Wave FC's Alex Morgan Named to Shortlist for the Best FIFA Women's Player Award

SAN DIEGO, Calif - San Diego Wave Fútbol Club forward Alex Morgan was named a finalist for the 2022 The Best FIFA Women's Player Award, announced on Thursday.

The Southern California native is coming off the best season of her club career, scoring a career-high 15 regular season goals to win the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Golden Boot. Named to the NWSL Best XI First Team, Morgan appeared in 19 matches (18 starts), helping the Wave secure a third-place finish in the club's inaugural season.

In addition, Morgan tallied four goals and one assist for the U.S. Women's National Team in 2022. Morgan leads all active U.S. WNT players with 119 international goals.

Voting is open to the public here and will run until Feb. 3, 2023, when FIFA will announce the three finalists from each of the seven categories.
