January 26, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
San Diego Wave FC News Release
San Diego Wave FC midfielder Kelsey Turnbow today announced her retirement. Turnbow retires following two years of playing professional soccer with Wave FC in the NWSL.
"Being able to play professional soccer was a dream come true, but it was beyond my dreams to do so in San Diego with the Wave," said Turnbow. "Representing the city, the fans, and the club made me a better person on and off the field. I'm forever grateful to Casey, Molly, and Jill for giving me the chance to be a part of this community and make my dreams a reality. This game has given me more than I could have ever dreamed of and to be able to leave this beautiful sport on my terms is something I am forever grateful for. Now onto the next chapter."
In two seasons with San Diego, Turnbow appeared in 40 matches (23 starts) across all competitions, while earning four assists. Turnbow, 24, played at the University of Santa Clara (2017-21), where she helped the Broncos win the 2020 NCAA Women's Division I Championship, scoring in regulation and a penalty kick to secure the victory. In 2021, Turnbow was drafted with the 18th overall pick by the Chicago Red Stars, but elected to return to Santa Clara before the Wave acquired her rights.
