
San Diego Wave FC Acquires Rights to Emily Van Egmond and Taylor Kornieck in Trade with Orlando Pride

San Diego Wave Fútbol Club announced today it has acquired the rights to Australian international Emily van Egmond and Taylor Kornieck in a trade with Orlando Pride. In exchange, Orlando receive $125,000 of allocation money with potential for additional funds pending conditions met and San Diego's natural 2nd round draft pick in 2024.
"The acquisition of both Emily and Taylor are fantastic additions to help bolster our midfield area and give us the ability to compete as a brand new team in this extremely competitive league" said Wave FC head coach Casey Stoney. "Emily has vast experience in different leagues across the world and is a centurion at international level which is a great achievement and something that will really add to our squad. Taylor has already proved herself at NWSL level with some match winning performances and has a bright future ahead of her. I am very much looking forward to working with them both."
van Egmond, 28, is a native of Australia with more than 100 caps and 24 goals for her country. She made her international debut in March 2010 at only 17 years old and played in three World Cups, scoring in a victory over Equatorial Guinea at the 2011 tournament. She began her NWSL career in Seattle, during the league's inaugural season, and spent time in Chicago prior to joining Orlando. Over the last decade van Egmond has also had stints in leagues in England, Germany and her home country of Australia.
Kornieck, 23, is an alumna of San Diego Surf Soccer program and former collegiate standout at University of Colorado - Boulder. She was the first All-American in Buffalos history and departed at the all-time points leader in school history (102 points). Kornieck was drafted No. 3 overall by the Pride at the 2020 NWSL College Draft.
