Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Pride have acquired $125,000 in Allocation Money and a natural 2024 NWSL Draft Second Round selection from San Diego Wave FC. In exchange, Orlando has traded the rights to Taylor Kornieck and the rights to Emily van Egmond to the expansion side. The Pride have the ability to earn additional Allocation Money, should conditions be met.
"We would like to thank Taylor and Emily for their invaluable time with the Club and wish them luck as they embark on a new opportunity that aligns with their personal goals and circumstances," Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. "Our recruitment processes for 2022 and beyond continue, and the assets we've acquired will allow us additional flexibility in building a squad capable of sustained success in our league."
Kornieck, 23, was selected by the Pride No. 3 overall in the 2020 NWSL Draft out of the University of Colorado. In a rookie season shortened by COVID-19, Kornieck went on loan to German side MSV Duisburg for the 2020 campaign. Following her international club debut, Kornieck returned to the Pride in 2021, totaling three goals - including a late-equalizer in her NWSL debut on April 10. The Las Vegas native also added three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Van Egmond, 28, re-signed with the Pride late in the 2021 season in what served as her second stint with the Club, making two appearances to finish out the campaign. Prior to that, the Australian international appeared 25 times for Orlando across the 2018 and 2019 NWSL seasons, tallying two assists in that span. On Dec. 7, 2021, van Egmond was transferred to Australian Liberty A-League side Newcastle Jets FC.
