February 17, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
San Diego Sockers News Release

MATCH PREVIEW

The Sockers conclude their two-game road series with the Tropics tonight at 4:35 p.m., at RP Funding Center. San Diego (15-3), who has won three straight to recover from a small mid-season slump, is seeking its first win on a Saturday (0-1). This is the second back-to-back games of the year for San Diego (2-1).

Florida, who is battling Syracuse for the fi- nal Eastern Division sport, had their playoff hopes dashed with their 4-2 loss to the Sockers on Friday. The Tropics are led by forward Ricardo De Queiroz Diegues' 33 points on 21 goals and 12 assists. Contrib- uting to the offense is forward Freddy Moojen (14-11=25), midfielder Victor Par- reiras (12-9=21), and forward Mauricio Sal- les (13-7=20). Peter Sliwa, who played well in goal yesterday, has backstopped the Tropics with a 5.90 GAA and a .690 save percentage. Florida (9-8) has a game-in- hand over the 11-7 Silver Knights in the fight for the final postseason berth.

San Diego is finding its stride heading towards the playoffs and look to finish the season strong. Captain Kraig Chiles contin- ued his 15-game goal streak with two goals against Florida and notched his league- leading seventh game-winning goal. Chris Toth (7-2-0, 3.96, .759%) should get the start in goal. His goalkeeping partner Boris Pardo earned his eighth win in last night's 4 -2 contest (8-0-1, 3.66, .732%) The Sockers have the luxury of having two of the best keepers in the MASL, as the duo is ranked first and second in GAA and second and third in save percentage.
