LAKELAND - The Florida Tropics saw their playoff hopes grow a bit dimmer Friday night when they fell to the visiting San Diego Sockers, 4-2, on SYKES Field and the RP Funding Center.

The Tropics fell to 9-8 on the season, to fall 1 ½ games behind the Syracuse Silver Knights for second place in the eastern division. Syracuse defeated St. Louis Friday night, 7-5.
