
San Diego Signs IFL Veteran Armonti Carey

SAN DIEGO, California - The San Diego Strike Force have signed defensive lineman Armonti Carey to their 2024 Indoor Football League roster.
Armonti Carey (6-5, 320, Midwestern State) joins the Strike Force with IFL veteran status. Last season in Northern Arizona, he saw action in 15 games and recorded 20 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. In 2022 with Dakota, Armonti played in 12 games and recorded 11.5 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups, and one quarterback hurry.
Carey began his professional career in 2015 with the San Jose Sabercats of the Arena Football League. He went on to spend time with the Colorado Crush of the IFL, Corpus Christi Rage of the National Arena League (NAL), and then NAL's Orlando Predators in 2019. During that season in Orlando, he appeared in nine games and recorded 11 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three sacks. He made a final stop in the NAL with the Jersey Flight in 2021.
Armonti finished his collegiate career at Midwestern State University - Texas. In his two seasons as a Mustang, he appeared in 21 games and recorded 44 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one pass deflection, one forced fumble, one recovery, and a blocked kick. Following his senior season in 2013, he was selected to the second-team All-Long Star Conference.
Before attending MSU-Texas, he played two seasons at Bakersfield College where he played in all 20 games over his two seasons and recorded 71 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three pass breakups, and one blocked kick. He earned second-team All-Southern California Football Association National Division Northern Conference honors as a freshman and helped the Renegades to an 8-3 seasons and co-Northern Conference championship before a state playoff berth.
Armonti played his prep career at Romulus High School in Detroit where he was a three-year starter and was named first-team All-Western Wayne Blue Conference as a senior. He played both defensive end and tight end, recording 68 total tackles, seven sacks, and one fumble recovery.
The Strike Force will open the 2024 season on the road against the Duke Gladiators before hosting the San Antonio Gunslingers for their home opener at Pechanga Arena on Monday, April 1st.
