November 10, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL) - San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club will honor the United States Armed Forces by hosting Military Weekend at Valley View Casino Center when the Gulls host the Stockton Heat on Friday Nov. 10 (7 p.m.) and the Ontario Reign on Saturday, Nov. 11 (7 p.m.). This special weekend will pay tribute to local military members and their families, as well as raise awareness for local military nonprofit organizations.

Military Weekend will see the Gulls provide tickets, at no cost, to over 4,000 military members and their families.

San Diego will wear a new, custom camouflage jersey each night during the two-game homestand. Select game worn Gulls camouflage jerseys will be autographed and available for a silent auction following the Saturday, Nov. 11 contest on the concourse at Section 10. A limited number of game-worn camouflage jerseys will be available via the DASH Auction app, a digital auction platform. Fans can download the DASH Auction app via iOS or Android devices in the app store. All proceeds raised via the auctions will be donated by the San Diego Gulls Foundation to the Armed Services YMCA and Operation Rebound of the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

On Friday, Nov. 10, all fans in attendance will receive a free Gulls camouflage hat. The Nov. 10 game will begin with military families unfurling the American flag on the ice prior to the national anthem. The Gulls will honor Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer Colin M. Cooper and Marine Corps Master Sgt. Eric W. Franklin as the Nov. 10 Military Heroes of the Game.

Military Weekend will culminate on Saturday, Nov. 11, and fans are encouraged to arrive early Saturday evening for Bud Light Pre-game Tailgate from 5-7 p.m. The tailgate will feature a $5 Bud Light Truck, military vehicles on display, food truck options, street hockey, photos with the Gulls Girls and Gulliver, and interactive games for fans of all ages. On Friday night, fans can also take free military-themed photos in the interactive photobooth on the north concourse (near Section 6) and post them online for a chance to be featured on the big screen during each game.

As part of Saturday's contest, the Gulls will recognize Tim Mathues, Veteran Outreach Coordinator for the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs for The County of San Diego, as Saturday's Military Hero of the Game. Additionally, service members and their families are invited to take part in a post-game skate with Gulls players on the Valley View Casino Center ice following the game on Nov. 11 by signing up at the Section 10 booth. Limited space is available.

The Gulls' home arena, Valley View Casino Center, will offer free parking to anyone with a military ID for both Military Weekend games. For more information, please visit SanDiegoGulls.com/military.
