San Antonio Talons News Release

SAN ANTONIO (October 18, 2011) - The San Antonio Talons arena football team announced it will host the official team open tryouts on November 5 and 6, 2011 at Central Catholic High School in downtown San Antonio. Registration for the first inaugural season tryouts opened online at SanAntonioTalons.com/tryouts on Monday. Participants who register, and prepay, online will be charged a discounted rate of $60; participants who register on the day of tryouts will be required to pay a full fee of $90.

The official tryouts will take place on November 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and November 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During the tryouts, players will be put through a number of skill testing elements in order to help evaluate their football skills, speed and agility.

"We are working to build what will be the strongest AFL team in the nation," says Head Coach Lee Johnson, "and I hope we encourage and inspire players to come be a part of this arena football movement in San Antonio."

Given the tremendous interest in the San Antonio Talons, the management team has made the tryouts open to the public. Players and spectators who are interested in being a part of the significant moment for the franchise, and the San Antonio sports community, are welcome to visit Central Catholic High School the weekend of November 5. The San Antonio Talons franchise also plans to host two additional tryouts in the coming months, one on the West coast and one on the East coast. Those tryouts will be held in the months following the tryouts in San Antonio, with additional details to be announced at a later date.

"It was important to us to hold our first open tryouts at home because there is great talent in this region of the country and we want to give those players an opportunity to play pro football," says Jason Lohe, Talons GM, CEO and Owner. "We are looking forward to a high intensity weekend that will bring the Talons franchise one step closer to kicking off our inaugural season."

Players are advised that the November tryouts in San Antonio will be non-padded workouts, so no pads are required. Turf shoes are, however, required and track shoes and outdoor cleated shoes will not be accepted.
