SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC topped D'Feeters Kicks SC 3-1 tonight, advancing to the third round of the US Open Cup. The win comes behind two goals from 17-year-old SAFC Pro Academy Product Henrik Sakshaug, the youngest player in club history to score a brace.
After a scoreless first half, SAFC came out flying to start the second. Sakshaug started with a blast from the edge of the box to make it 1-0 in the 53rd minute, before Connor Maloney followed it up with another unassisted goal in the 54th to quickly make it 2-0.
Three minutes later, Sakshaug struck again off of a cross into the box by Shannon Gomez to make it 3-0. D'Feeters Kicks responded with a goal in the 61st minute to make it 3-1.
San Antonio FC is back in USL Championship play Saturday, traveling to Southern California for a rematch of last season's Western Conference Final with Orange County SC. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, and kicks off at 9:00 p.m. CT.
