Damm, Faundez Sent out on League One Loans
April 6, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville City FC has agreed to loan deals for defender Owen Damm and goalkeeper Danny Faundez that will see them join USL League One side Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC.
Both players are expected to be available Wednesday night for Hailstorm FC's U.S. Open Cup Second Round match against the USL Championship's Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. LouCity retains the right to recall them to Louisville anytime.
"This is a great opportunity to have Owen and Danny go out and get meaningful minutes with Hailstorm FC," said LouCity coach Danny Cruz. "We are looking forward to watching them and feel that the experience will be mutually beneficial for everyone involved."
Damm, an 18-year-old Woodford County High School graduate, completed LouCity's path to professional soccer from the academy to a first team deal in December. After ending his amateur career by scoring 48 goals in 19 games last fall, the all-state selection is awaiting his pro debut.
Faundez, 29, earned a LouCity contract after impressing at the club's offseason open tryouts. He spent the previous two seasons with Orange County SC, which won the USL Championship title in 2021. Prior to that, he also featured for NAIA Bellevue College in Washington before signing with Seattle Sounders 2 in 2015.
Should they appear for Hailstorm FC on Wednesday, Damm and Faundez will be tied to that club for the remainder of the Open Cup, the nationwide knockout tournament that serves as U.S. Soccer's de facto national championship. Participation in League One games during the loan spell won't impact the players' USL Championship eligibility upon their returns.
