San Antonio FC to Host Select Season Ticket Members at Remaining Regular Season Home Matches
August 25, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC today announced that the club's remaining regular season home matches -- beginning Saturday, Sept. 5 -- will occur with a limited number of fans in attendance at Toyota Field. The decision comes after continued dialogue with local and state officials and public health experts.
Under the 25-percent capacity plan, seats will be offered only to current San Antonio FC Season Ticket Members and the number of fans in attendance will be capped at 2,000. Strict health and safety protocols, including temperature checks and a mandatory mask policy, will be implemented within the stadium as the safety and welfare of fans, staff and players continues to be the priority for the club.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome back a select number of our Season Ticket Members to SAFC home matches at Toyota Field," said SAFC Managing Director Tim Holt. "With this opportunity comes an associated responsibility to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for fans and participants. Because of this, we will introduce health protocols and a modified, socially-distanced seating arrangement that has been developed over the past several months in consultation with health professionals and league officials."
SAFC and the USL Championship returned to play in July after a hiatus that began when the league suspended the season in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until now, SAFC has played its four home games since returning to play without fans in attendance. Following the upcoming match on Sept. 5, SAFC plays two additional regular season home matches on Sept. 16 and Sept. 19.
The presence of fans at Toyota Field will continue to be subject to ongoing evaluation as SAFC continues to monitor the local health situation with guidance from experts at the local and national levels.
