
San Antonio FC to Host Phoenix Rising FC on March 9 in 2019 Home Opener

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC will host Phoenix Rising FC on March 9 at Toyota Field in the club's 2019 USL Championship home opener, the league announced today. The game marks the first time in club history that SAFC will begin the regular season at Toyota Field.
San Antonio welcomes Phoenix to Toyota Field for the fifth time in USL regular season play, and the first time since SAFC defeated Rising FC 4-2 on September 8, 2018. Overall in league play, San Antonio has recorded a 4-2-1 record against Phoenix including a 3-0-1 record at Toyota Field.
SAFC previously hosted Saint Louis FC in its 2018 home opener, earning a 2-1 win in front of a sold-out crowd. Prior to last season, San Antonio hosted the Swope Park Rangers and LA Galaxy II in its 2016 and 2017 USL home openers, earning a 1-1 draw against the Rangers and a 3-0 win against the Galaxy. Overall SAFC is averaging 8,164 fans per game in their three regular season home openers at Toyota Field.
In addition, San Antonio will travel up I-35 to Austin to face expansion side Auston Bold FC on March 30 in the first edition of the Central Texas Derby. The Austin home opener marks the first USL Championship game at Bold Stadium.
