San Antonio FC News Release

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC midfielder Sebastien Thuriere has been named to the 28-man Haiti roster that will be participating in a 12-day camp in preparation for the 2016 Copa America Centenario, the Haitian Football Federation announced today. Haiti will select 23 players to include in their final tournament roster.

"It's a great opportunity for Seba to possibly represent his country at a major world tournament," said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. "He's been in good form and proving his quality from game to game for us. We wish him all the best while he is away with Haiti."

Thuriere is training with the squad for 12 days at the IMG Camp in Bradenton, Florida prior to the start of Copa America Centenario. Haiti will play Peru on June 4, Brazil on June 8 and Ecuador on June 12 as part of the group stages. Should Haiti advance from the group stages, the team will play matches in knockout-style until they are eliminated.

"Being called into the 28-man camp is another great feeling and step in my international career," said Thuriere. "The level of competition in the camp is very high, so I will do my best to make the final roster. It would be a tremendous honor to represent Haiti in our first Copa America tournament. I was a part of the team that qualified and I hope to make the squad and have a positive impact."

Thuriere, 26, joined SAFC after spending the 2015 season with the Charleston Battery (USL), making 21 appearances for the club en route to their third place Eastern Conference finish last year. Prior to his time with the Battery, Thuriere played for former USL clubs, VSI Tampa Bay and the Dayton Dutch Lions. He played collegiate soccer for the University of South Florida from 2008-12 and has previously been capped 19 times at the full international level by Haiti. He has competed with his country in the Caribbean Cup and the CONACAF Gold Cup, as well as Copa America and World Cup Qualifiers.

This season for SAFC, Thuriere has made six USL appearances and totaled 434 minutes played while also playing 90 minutes in the U.S. Open Cup.

Copa America Centenario will be the first Copa America tournament held outside of South America, and will be hosted in the United States from June 3 to June 26. The tournament is recognized as one of the most prestigious in the world and will feature teams from North and South America. This summer marks the 45th Copa America tournament and a special edition in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the first Copa America in 1916.

San Antonio FC will return to USL action, hosting the OKC Energy FC on Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at SanAntonioFC.com or by calling 210-444-5MLS.
