July 6, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC will host reigning Liga MX Champions Club Santos Laguna at Toyota Field on Sunday, July 8. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be live streamed on Facebook Live.
SAFC and Santos Laguna will face off for the second time in as many years. Last season, the two clubs played to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Field in front of a sellout crowd of 8,007 with goals from former SAFC midfielder Billy Forbes and Emiliano Armentaros, before Santos prevailed 4-3 on penalties.
The match marks the third game in a nine-day span for the Alamo City club. SAFC heads into the international friendly after earning two draws in USL play, tying Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 1-1 last Saturday before recording a 1-1 draw at home against OKC Energy FC on Wednesday night.
Santos will look to earn a win as they continue their preseason tour in preparation for their upcoming Liga MX season, which also includes matches in the United States against Club America (Liga MX), Rio Grande Valley FC (USL), and Tigres UANL (Liga MX).
Following the exhibition match, San Antonio FC will return to USL action on the road as they visit Orange County SC on Saturday, July 14.
